Dr. Neitzschman received his M.D. from LSU Health Sciences Center in 1965. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Neitzschman is a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the American College of Nuclear Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Neitzschman joined the Tulane faculty as a Professor of Radiology July 2000. Prior to joining the faculty at Tulane Dr. Neitzschman was a full-time faculty member of the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center. The primary interest of Dr. Neitzschman in research is in the field of pediatric oncology and musculoskeletal radiology. He is a member of AOA Medical Honor Fraternity. He is a member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology, the Society for Pediatric Radiology, Association of University Radiologists, , the American Roentgen Ray Society, as well as numerous other national and local societies. He is the past president of the New Orleans Radiology Society. He is previously served as the Director of the Fellowship Program in Musculoskeletal Radiology at LSU Health Sciences Center, and is currently involved with training of fellows in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Tulane Health Sciences Center. He is an active member of the Tulane Medical School, and is the Residency Training Director of Radiology. He is very involved in the teaching of Radiology residents, as well as pediatrics residents at Tulane Health Sciences Center.

Biographical Narrative:
Dr. Newsome received his MD from the University of South Alabama where he also completed his residency in general surgery. Following his general surgery residency, Dr. Newsome went into private practice in general surgery and emergency medicine in Mississippi. In 1996 he continued his graduate medical education in the Plastic Surgery Residency Program at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Newsome is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is full-time academic faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine and is also on staff at several other New Orleans Metropolitan area hospitals. Dr. Newsome actively practices plastic surgery and his clinical interests include all aspects of reconstructive surgery. He has special interest in complex wounds, lower extremity salvage, skin cancer and melanoma. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the Association of Academic Chairmen of Plastic Surgery. In addition he is a member of several local organizations, including the Tulane Surgical Society, Orleans Parish Medical Society, New Orleans Surgical Society, and the Surgical Association of Louisiana. He also serves on several hospital committees at Tulane University Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Newsome has active ongoing research projects involving adipose derived stem cells and wound healing.
